My Background
During my bachelor’s study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln I became interested in working with college students and began pursuing a career in Student Affairs, sparked by my admiration for my academic adviser and her work. I served as an intern in the English advising office and an Arts and Sciences student ambassador, which provided me with an introduction to the field. Throughout graduate school I held an assistantship in the Education Abroad Office, which helped cultivate my passion for International Education and study abroad. In the spring of 2015 I completed my Master's in Educational Administration and Student Affairs, and began working full-time for the Education Abroad Office!
My Study/Work Abroad
During the summer of 2011 I pursued my long-awaited dream to study abroad which took me to Gothenburg, Sweden on a UNL faculty-led program. I studied the advent of hip-hop, social justice movements, and race relations in Sweden. I also took excursions to other areas of Scandinavia, and to the UK. As a graduate student, I again had the opportunity to study abroad in the summer of 2014, this time in India. While in India I learned about the global issue of human trafficking, and spent time working with women and children affected by this issue. I traveled across north and central India, visiting 5 different cities and many amazing historical and cultural sites along the way! My most recent travels in the summer of 2017 took me to Costa Rica to co-lead a group of seventeen freshman and sophomore students on a UNL faculty-led Education Abroad program.
My Ideal Next Travel Destination
I have been long overdue to visit the Pacific Region and finally see Australia and/or New Zealand! I am also interested in exploring more of Eastern Europe.
