Apply to be a Peer Ambassador

Applications for the Education Abroad Peer Ambassador team for the 2017-2018 academic year are currently closed. Check back summer 2018 to apply for the 2018-2019 acdademic year ambassador team!

Throughout the school year, Education Abroad Peer Ambassadors accompany the Education Abroad staff to speaking engagements to talk about studying abroad. They provide a “student voice” to describe to students exactly why studying abroad can be such a powerful experience. If you're interested in applying to be an Education Abroad Peer Ambassador, please complete the form below. Once completed, an Education Abroad Coordinator will be in touch with more information about the next steps in the application process.


  • Inform prospective students to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as current students about Education Abroad opportunities
  • Take advantage of opportunities to share and talk about your personal Education Abroad experiences
  • Develop your presentation and communication skills


  • Commit to approximately 10-20 hours per semester at the following events:
    • Red Letter Days
    • Education Abroad Fairs (Fall & Spring)
    • Education Abroad Pre-Departure Orientations (Fall & Spring)
    • Education Abroad Returnee Events (Fall & Spring)
    • Education Abroad presentations (classrooms, residence hall events, student groups)
    • Other events and duties as needed
  • Attend planning/training meetings at the beginning of the year

*Please note that the student ambassador position is unpaid. Ambassadors must agree to duties on a volunteer basis. The Education Abroad Office will reward student ambassadors for their help, time, and dedication to the program through free dinners and get-togethers each semester* 

Selection Criteria

  • Eligibility:
    • Must be a current UNL undergraduate student
    • Must have experience abroad on a UNL approved program
    • Must be responsible and punctual
    • Must show genuine enthusiasm about Education Abroad

Process/Timeline for Academic Year 2017-2018

  • Applications due: Tuesday, September 5
  • Applicants selected/notified: Friday, September 15
  • Training sessions will be held the week of September 25, 2017
