Throughout the school year, Education Abroad Peer Ambassadors accompany the Education Abroad staff to speaking engagements and events to talk about their experience abroad. They provide a “student voice” to describe why education abroad can be such a powerful experience.
Purpose
- Inform prospective students to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as current students about education abroad opportunities
- Take advantage of opportunities to share and talk about your personal education abroad experiences
- Develop your presentation and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Commit to approximately 10 hours per semester at the following events:
- Red Letter Days (Admissions Events)
- Education Abroad Fair
- Education Abroad Pre-Departure Orientations
- Education Abroad Returnee Events
- Education Abroad presentations (classrooms, residence hall events, student groups)
- Participate in the "Contact an Ambassador" program, where students can request to be connected to a returnee student
- Attend a planning/training meeting at the beginning of the year
*Please note that the student ambassador position is unpaid. Ambassadors must agree to duties on a volunteer basis.
Selection Criteria
- Eligibility:
- Must be a current UNL student
- Must have experience abroad on a UNL approved program
- Must be responsible and punctual
- Must show genuine enthusiasm about education abroad
Process/Timeline for Academic Year 2019-2020
- Applications due: Monday, August 5th
- Applicants selected/notified: Tuesday, August 6th
- Training sessions will be held the week of August 19th
